because you are drinking too much of it or drinking it in a sweetened form. try cutting back on them amount you drink our cutting out sweeteners of any kind in your coffee, tea, and only drink regular coffee or tea or soft drinks. those "energy drinks" often contain a much higher dose of caffeine than you ever need in one drink, as well as tons of sugar.

Because that's pretty much what caffeine does. It only works for a few hours. That being said, when you say crashing do you mean you're tired again, or do you mean you are extremely weak and tired? Because if it's the latter, you might think about getting yourself a diabetes blood test.

You go on a caffeine high, then the chemical runs out and you go back to normal but even more tired. The level of it in your body spikes, then drops really quickly.

When you need to sleep, just sleep. Caffeine makes you over-work and you will be tired later.
