How much and what is the best way to get to the french quarter from the airport in new orleans?

The New Orleans airport is in the suburb of Kenner, well north of the Quarter. If you don't have your own car, the best options are either an airport shuttle van or a taxi. Figure about $12 for the shuttle and $20 - $25 for the taxi. Jefferson Parish operates buses to and from the airport, but they don't go all the way downtown. You'd have to transfer to a New Orleans bus in the mid-city area.

There are many vans that go between the airport and the major hotels in the French Quarter. Exit on the lower level (by baggage claim) and you'll see them lining up. Any one of them is fine and you can purchase a one-way or a round-trip ticket.

Take I-10 East, Take the Vieux Carré exit. That means "Old City" in French, and it's the French Quarter exit.
The exit I'd take would depend on the hotel, because one might lead you closer to it. Also, some hotels offer free shuttles, or discounted shuttles. Where will you be staying? I mght be able to give you a better answer.

On both of our visits we took a cab. It's a flat fee (sorry don't remember how much we paid). Parking in the Quarter is not cheap, almost everything is walking distance, and all the trolleys are finally running, so getting around is pretty easy.
