The answer way probally out of line, but you need to look at the loaded question you asked him, that is what started this whole thing and that put the man on the spot. He was probally searching for the answer you wanted to hear, and if a compliment is coming he would give you one without being asked. To better remedy the situation if something similuar comes up again give the man a compliment on something but don't say it in front of his friends and you are almost assured a very respectful response back, by the way were his friends near by like in hearing distance, if they were he did give the right answer.

If this guy is just a date well now u know why n he will prob stay that way if that's how he speaks to someone he is supposed to like.I wouldn't bother with him after this. There r plenty more men in the sea.I wouldn't see him again cuz what he said was very mean rude and cruel n he needs to learn some manners.Find someone else he is not worth making u feel this way.Can u imagine if u where more then dating what it will b like if u stay with someone like that.I hope u find someone else.Good luck n have a good day.

He might just have been nervous. Because he liked you a whole lot and ran out of good lines to say so he tried to make one up.
The reason that he might have walked home was that he needed to sulk or he didn't want to face you again.
And if he seems like the type that doesn't do that. Sometimes they have secret weaknesses.

i might be the only person who realizes this, but that was not mean.
if you read between the lines of what you just wrote, hopefully you will figure it out!!
so i think you were far more rude than what was called for, people shouldn't just fling around the word "retarded,"
hopefully you figure that out too!!

Sound like my husband...he has a smartass sense of humor...he once told me that even though I may not always win the race I will always be his favorite horse. And I told him that at least I was not a horses' ***.

Yes, this was very rude of him. Hopefully he was only joking, but it's still rude to make jokes at someone else's expense.
Your retort wasn't very clever though, and actually pretty insensitive - what if someone who was mentally retarded, or had a family member who was, heard you? They still have feelings, you know.

Yes I would have let his butt walked home to. Obviously he didn't care about your feels to say something like that. Men can be so cruel.
