Most definitely yes! You need to read up on a subject called 'NLP' (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming) - it's all to do with the way people think. It might sound a bit of a bore, but boy can you have some fun with it - especially when you understand why people do the things they do. Way too complex to describe here, but a couple of pointers for you are to watch their hand / eye gestures when they talk to you:
1. Feeling / rubbing their nose.
2. Fiddling with their collar (hence "hot under the collar").
3. Looking down to their right (hence the saying "he's a down-right liar").
These are just a few and when you get into the psychology behind the thought modes .... you can really have some fun (in good taste of course)!
Hope this helps.

yes,i think it is,now i am a suspicious person already but i really can put this aside when i am trying to tell if someone is genuine. There aren't really any tips to give you except that people who are lying simply behave diff from usual. oh this will other thing will make it easIEr for you to read the person/s in question, you must plant a seed let them know that you hate people lying ie when there is a cheat or liar story on TV or in the daily paper you just make the comment "i cant believe people can lie or be so deceitful" what this does is the next time this person trys to lie they will be far more apprehensive & much easier to read. hope this helps.

By now if the person is trying to lie to you i'm sure they know all of the facial tells, so the eye contact thing does not work. Most people by now can use that one to their advantage and just use reverse psychology on you and make you think that the truth is a lie. The only real way to tell is in teir speech and it is different for everyone so it is hard to tell unless you know the person other than that you have to go by instinct.

Lets see, President of the United States or a mid level congressman? If things get serious Sestak will take a fall, thats how power politics are played. He will say that he lied, disappear into some gravy train job and live happily ever after. Sestak is probably telling the truth here, he was on the outs with the administration however, so if he claims that he lied it will sound credible enough.

If someone is lying they tend to look up towards the right hand side. This is because it is the imagination part of the brain and it is used to think of a lie. Whereas the truth would just be instant.

Sometimes people are too used to lying and can maintain a straight face, usually they may smirk, fidget, or wont keep eye contact

If they're telling the truth then the will look you straight in the eye. And will hold it there until someone gives out.
If they are lying their eyes will drift away or look over your head.
Sometimes the will automatically change the subject. Or go over to someone to get away from you.

well, there are a few tricks to see if someone is lying, the first one is the old eye contact trick, but that can fool you, you should also check for sweat signs, try to see if they're pulse in growing, if they're face turns red if they babble, these are the signs the polygraph looks after except the redness and the babbling...good luck
