What if they kept giving you excuses like "it will be there as soon as you are dead. We promise, just keep making payments"

Actually He never gave a delivery date. But I would wait for ever because the longer the wait the more people receive the package of eternal life.

Gosh marc, your question is terribly relative. It would depend on how much I wanted the thing, and whether I could get it faster and cheaper elsewhere, wouldn't it?

If you are referring to Jesus being late on His return...
I would like to know where in the Bible you read what day His return would be. Last I read, no one would know this except God.
