As it is a small room, i would paint walls same colour as curtains
I have done this myself and then the curtains sort of blend into the walls.....
If you paint the trim a different colour, it will accent the fact it is a small room - personally I would keep the walls, trim, neutral - yu will have enough colours from furniture, plants, etc.
Just an idea :-)

I would pick an earthy light color somewhere between the color of the floors and the drapes. Then pick a theme to decorate,i.e., Southwest Mod, etc. Also, I would use a large wall tapestry depicting a doorway or window to a scenic outside view like mountains, a lake, or a garden, and a fairly large decorative mirror. The mirror and tapestry will make the room seem much larger than it really is and with proper lighting and/or candles you can set the mood as you wish. As far as the molding goes, I would paint that a color that gives good accent to the tapestry but not too gaudy or bright.

You already have earthy colors in beige and hardwood floors. Try to have a lighter shade of earthy color for walls. One because lighter colors give a bigger room feeling and also to offset the dark colors of the beige and floor.
An off-white (tendency towards creme or very light beige, not white) or light sage would be nice. Maroon would be great for a bigger room but it will tend to overwhelm the atmosphere as you enter the room.
PS: I wanted to add: if you wish to add color to the room without painting and overwhelming the look, simply think about bright colors in the decorations you chose: small modern photography with red or fiery colors, pillows, bright green plants, etc etc...those will add the right subtle note that catch the attention and keep the room neat and open.

You will need some color there...everything else sounds very subdued which is good in a way. However, you want something brighten yet feel warm. Small rooms do not need dark colors..closes in on you. You can always decorate with paintings or trim that is bright. I suggest a soft rose and use complimenting colors in your decorations.

maybe a sage green? a light color is best in a small room, dark colors make the room appear smaller.
