We are having an engagement party this summer and our families will meet for the first time. What all is suppost to happen at an engagement party?

Drinks are usually served on arrival ,Meet and Greet the guests,invite them to enjoy the evening,.After the Introductions ,everyone will circulate and make friends. In laws meeting each other in this way is possibly the best way ,because it is less personal.Let everyone enjoy their evening in their own way.You could arrange for someone to take charge of the food,keep the menu simple,likewise with the music,try to cater for all tastes,because you will have a cross-section of ages.Enjoy your Evening.All the best for the future.Wear a stunning dress and be yourself.

Huh? This is an adult engagement party NOT a children's birthday party. You meet, have refreshments, mingle, and the guests then go home. No games or other activities.

if you want to play it safe, just some good background music, some food, nibbles or dinner, depending on if you want to be busy on the night? just mingle ask your fiancee what his parents are like and if they'd be up for a game. and bring out some champagne.

Everyone just pretty much mingles and gets introduced; it's pretty laid back. Just have good food, champagne for toasting, a cake for the bride and groom. Everything else should just fall into place. Have fun.
