Are they trying to teach religious dogma in schools? Are they trying to legislate their beliefs? Do we have laws that stores can't be open on their sabbath? Do they have a long history of killing those who disagree? Do some have camps where they teach people to kill? Are christians the american taliban?

No. i'm an Atheist conservative, yet i have not in any respect met any Christian conservative that needs to position in a theocracy. each body makes use of their perception structures to make judgements. you're an offended, hateful man or woman who demonizes each thing about Republicans. i have considered different posts the position you accuse us of being racist. you're extremely severe. and that i understand that you've been taught this because they're speaking factors, the U. S. Taliban etc. You did not purely contain this on your human being. you're purely an ignorant illiberal lowlife.

Dude, unlike fundamentalist totalitarian regimes such as the Taliban, here in America nobody forces you to follow any particular religion or, in fact to worship at all. If you really want to experience religious oppression I suggest living under a fundamentalist theocracy for awhile. I suspect that after you have been treated like a criminal for not blindly following church dogma you might be a bit more appreciative of the religious freedoms we enjoy in this country.

Interesting comparison, and it has occurred to me as well.
It seems that the Taliban are little behind in their 'evolution'. Just a few hundred years ago, the Christians waged war against foreign countries, took their possessions and forced the inhabitants, at sword point, to convert.
Now they've grown up a little and wage only psychological warfare.

If you can get someone to believe the implausable its a lot easier to get them to do the unimaginable.
In church, most people are taught the nice things out of the new testiment. Someday, one of those churches may ask their congregation to turn to 2 Chronicles 15:12-13 which states that non-believers should be killed.
The Bible isn't really that nice and it's followed out of blind faith.

There are many Christians that I don't agree with, such as ones that bomb abortion clinics, protest military funerals etc.. The military protest has something to do with homosexuality and the military "acceptance" of it.
Those people make up a small percentage of the Christians and I do not think that they are Christians. The people who do unspeakable acts are terrorists, not Christians
Travis W you are absolutely right!!

Not unless they claim that this is a Christian nation, once they do that, we are involved in every religious war, even before we send the first soldier.
If we claim secular country, we protect our citizens rights to believe whatever they want as long as they don't sacrifice another citizen for it. And we stay the flip out of immature religious battles. And we nuke them the moment they involve us. In order to be respected, we must be clear on consequence and deliver that consequence immediately and absolutely.

I sometimes feel that, but it really depends on which Christians some of the noisy fringe are very like the Taliban but most are not.
