He's not allowed to get married, isn't he? Is it helpless?

A Catholic priest can leave the priesthood.

If / when (cuz it does happen) a priest falls in love, the first thing he has to do is get very clear whether or not he is truly, honestly, 100% in LOVE and not lust or infatuation or whatever. Talking over something like this with a trusted friend (probably another priest) or a spiritual advisor is a good step.

If he decides that this really is love, he has to choose which commitment he wants to live out in his life - priesthood or marriage. If he decides marriage, then he has to go to his superior (often a bishop) and go through a set process.

The one thing he should NOT do is break any of his vows. No sex while he is still a priest, for example.

This is pretty deep but I would think that you have to make the choice that you can live with. Being a priest is a massive undertaking but you are still human. I would imagine that you will meet more than one woman in your lifetime that you might like... it will happen. I would think that being a priest is a choice you will have to make on a daily basis... all I can say is that if this woman is the one for you, or if just the realization of your feelings for her has made you aware of other options for your life, you should make the choice now before you become a priest. God loves you no matter what your choice and you can be a strong man of faith and help your community without going as far as being a priest... remember that much. God Bless you and Good Luck.

A current Catholic priest who wants to get married must choose between marriage and the priesthood (even though celibacy isn't an essential feature of being a priest),while a married Lutheran priest can apply to become a Catholic priest and keep his wife - he doesn't have to choose. Naturally, this causes some hard feelings for those Catholic priests who leave the clergy in order to pursue marriage; yet others are hoping that the presence of such married priests will eventually allow priests who have left to marry to eventually return.

God Bless You

if he was around prior to 1031 AD he would have had no problems because Catholic priests were married, in fact they had several wives and even Mistresses., read the site given below. It has very interesting information.

Today, he has to make a decision if he wishes to stay a priest or to step down, ex-communicate himself and marry the girl. I do know of some Catholic priests who have done this and became ministers in other religions that allow marriage.

He married the Lord when he became a priest, and he should never have put himself in a position where he could fall in a love with a girl. However, he's human, and anyone can develop feelings for a person if they allow themselves to be in that position. he may even have "unpure thoughts" from time to time. But if he is even thinking about acting on it, then he is not that devoted to priesthood, and he probably shouldn't be a priest.

A priest is to live a life of chastity. He gives his life to the Church as a husband gives his life to his family.

He has agreed to abstain from sex, they don't force this on anyone anymore. If he breaks that agreement, he is only breaking his own resolution, how can he trust himself at that point.
The vow is most relevant under the extreme condition of lust, than it is when no one is interested.

Nothing wrong with loving, is there? He just can't act on it.

What is so helpless about love? Shouldn't we all be so lucky as to find someone who loves us?

He should leave the priesthood, or become an Anglican, and get married.
