I am just trying to figure out how people can believe in Christianity. Please no quotes from the bible.

Thanks to all except the nice person who called my question dumb. I want to further explain my question. I was raised as a Christian and no longer believe because the God of Christianity is not the God of reality in my opinion. If God is infallible and all that happens is part of his plan then God is a very vindictive and uncaring deity and nothing like the God that Christians preach. My question is how can Christians look at the awful state of the world and the awful things that happen to people and still believe?

they have no choice, their environment supports them if they do, and punishes them if they don't. Unless they like punishment and squirm out. This happens often with over zealous Christians. They produce many "black sheep".

Your question is a very good one, and i will answer you as well as I can.
If you know Christ Jesus it is truly wonderful. However, I will be the first to say that most, NOT all, Christians do not truly understand what Christianity is really all about. They have been told half-truths and lies for so long they are considered the truth. It has taken me over 50 years of learning to finely sifting through the many teachings I have received and much research and listening to get to much of the truth. No, I don't know it all and never will.
Most Christians are very judgemental and like to tell those who do not know the Jesus of the Bible they are going to hell if they don't believe. Few if any can tell you why. Most can only give you stories etc, but not why...Can it be done on here? No, there isn't room enough...I cannot give you years of research in a few short lines.
Believe me when I say that the true Jesus is not what most "Christians" teach or say He is...He is better than that.

You run into very few living epistles, but there are a few. Some survivors of the holocaust, survivors of the trade center atrocity. People who have touched Grace in their lives and will never be the same, emotionally, physically, or spiritually. It is an encounter with God himself. Christ is the logical source. Yes, we need His word to guide us; It is more than an experience. The bible reveals to us His Spirit and gives stability to our faith. We need it to keep us from veering off the path.

That is far more complicated an answer than can be delt with here...... I was 53 when I finaly came to God in The Way He prescribes...It was just God and me... no man, pastor, priest, Bible, Doctrin or dogma involved.... why should you believe in Christ or Christianity? I don't know... what are you seeking?..... People feel they need to believe in something,whether it be Christianity or Judaism or Islam.to give there life purpose.I believe God dwells inside and out side of us guiding us to do right with universal consciousness.I feel he is energy and thought,Jesus is unimportant to me for I feel he was just a great man but not Gods son.I appreciate what he did but do not worship him

ok so the only way you can start believing in Jesus is through other peoples teachings. i havnt been a christian for very long but i have no doute in my mind that, God and Jesus exhist! once you have experienced him, then you will always want to be with him. most people who dont rely no much about church think its all about hyms and sitting in big old church building while the revrend reads a realy boring sermon, but its not. there are of course wtil churchs like this but ther are so much better ones. i go to this amazin one.! every1 ther has an amazin passion for ther Lord Jesus Christ. believe me, once you believe in him then, you will feel different. ALOT different. you will change as a person and begin to have a relation ship in God. Really i recomend that you pray to God to night and ask him to show him self to you. he will do it .maye not imdiatly. but it will. as jesus said " if u ask, then it shall be givern to you". it also says in the ible " seek with all your heart and you will find." Really, im sorry if u didnt want any bible verses but stil! please give him a try u wnt regret it! honestly! we believe through experience of God moving in our lives, and through just seeing other poeples lives who have been changed by The Lord Jesus Christ!

i am not going to quote from the bible becuase you asked me not to,but i know for a fact that God can and does change mens hearts,He is just waiting for people like yourself to ask Him,He already knows everything about you,from the time you took your first step,He knows when you will die,believe me He does not want you to go to hell,He loves you very much more than your own mom or dad

I'm just trying to figure out why you are asking such a dumb question.
People can believe in Christianity because they can. I am a christian, and I believe in it, because I can. I believe in a holy God, that sent his son to die for my sins, BECAUSE I CAN. God makes it possible for me to believe in him. He meant it to be that way.
If you wanted to believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I suppose you could. That won't make it correct.

Because we want to go to heaven when we die! The heaven as describe in the christian bible! Why else would we?
