White trash is equivalent to n*gg*r. The meaning of n*gg*r is ignorant, While the N word is mostly used in reference to black people I feel it could be used on anyone. White trash is the same except that it actually including a person skin color and along with a derogatory statement against white people. While neither word should be used to defile anyone. I do think people get so unnecessarily worked up over words. It just seems so ridiculous to me and a major waste of energy.

A racist is someone who discriminates or has prejudices based on race. He/she thinks that a race is superior over another. A racist remark is something that's said in an offensive manner about or against a certain race. White is usually indicative of being caucasian. Hence, the term "white trash", is certainly racist. Not only does it demean a certain race (white/caucasian) but it specifically targets the underprivileged and poor of that particular race.

I think it's classist because the whole point of the insult is to call attention to the person's lifestyle and economic situation. Instead of calling people that term, I wish our society would improve the public educational system so that every American could improve their lot in life. I am not impressed by the rich and the nouveau riche who feel they have to flaunt their wealth. I'd be more impressed if they donated to charity (and paid their taxes like most working people do).

the term "white trash" is a slang term for people of Caucasian ethnicity that r of a low economic status - IE trailer park or low income lifestyle with rude manners - the opposite slang that refers to African Americans of low income is "ghetto" -

Yes it is. Can you imagine the uproar if you opened the paper tomorrow and a black person was being described as black trash? There'd be upturned cars and buildings on fire.

Nope because it refers to white people. In our multicultural, politically correct society of the perpetually offended it's just fine. Just don't use any slurs that refer to any other race.

I really think that remark is racist. I know that I get highly upset if someone calls me that remark, that is why I won't watch that show on NBC. I can't even remember the name of the show.

Yes. It is referes to one race in particular and it is belittleing, so I would say it is racist. Racism is racism, no matter who it is driected at. It is wrong, even whe the group it is drected at is not the minority, it is still hatred and it is still wrong.

White/caucasian is a RACE.....therefore the name WHITE TRASH is aimed at a certain race and skin color..... therefore it is a racist term and bigoted remark.
