I got my first ever speeding ticket today. I was going 131 in a 100km's per hour zone. I quit smoking yesterday and all I think about is smoking. I don't usually speed and when I do, not nearly that much so does anyone think if I appeal it I can get the ticket revoked or even reduced if I tell them I quit smoking and that's why I was speeding?

No. Judges don't like it when people try to make excuses. The fact is that you were speeding so just pay the ticket. I know it won't be a cheap ticket but you could have gotten written up for wreck less driving too since you were going so fast so just be thankful that all you have to pay is a speeding ticket.

I don't think you will be able to get out of the speeding ticket.
Just as the previous poster said use it as a lesson and for
goodness sakes slow down! What would have happen if you had been in a accident? I don't think a judge would be very understanding or reduce your ticket.
Good luck on trying to quit smoking and try to find something else to do like chew gum or relax. or have someone else drive.

You won't be able to get out of your ticket by any means when it comes to your smoking. However, Usually they will not make you pay it if you take a Defensive Driving course. Just call your local city hall and talk to them, They will give you all the details.

Congrats on quitting! I just quit about a month and a half ago. That aside, I think that they will think it's a lame excuse. Do you know how many excuses they hear on a daily basis? If you have the time to fight it, you can give it a try...but I really think that the they won't care.
