Yes, an 85 is a good score. The max you can score is a 99.

Hey, I just took the ASVAB last week, and I thought I did pretty well, and now you're putting my results to shame. I believe the linguist jobs falls under the general category, and from what I've heard you only need a minimum of a 72 to be eligible for those jobs, and pretty much everything else under general. I too am actually interested in becoming a linguist, and I received an 80 under my general section, and my recruiter said if I apply for a job under it, I'd be taken pretty promptly, so I don't think you'd have anything to worry about. I'm going to have to take the test for it as well, and hopefully we can both reach the minimum score of 100. It's a great job I think though, whether it's Airborne or Crypto. I haven't looked much into ISR, but I'd be thrilled to end up a linguist. Don't worry about your scores though, you did plenty well.

I'm glad you didn't... It sounds much "rosier" on the commercials than it really is. It's not for the "tough or strong" its for them "dumb and mindless"... the only way you can make it is if you having nothing to fill your life with and have no common sense... if you do plan to join- think about it VERY carefully if you're worth anything, becuase you could very well be doing something much better for yourself. On another note, and 85 is good, a 45 is a standard bar to even get "in". Your job opportunities are wider with an 85 but still limited based on your individual scores... But with the "trimming down" and "money saving" a lot of career fields are closing their doors and people are being forced into other careers that they want mannned.

85 is a great score. The minnimum the army takes ppl in is 32. The minnimum the air force takes in I believe is 45. The Air Force rewuires more brain power than physical strength.

This is a great score, i personally scored a 60 i signed up with the Marine Corps, i had a number of jobs available to me. U have to understand that out of the 10 parts of the test you took the 85 is only compiled of 4. Thats where ur line scores come into play depending on what kind of job you want they have to look at wat is called MM, CL, GT those can qualify you for a behind the desk job, supply, ordinance tech, and things of the sort. Congrads on your desicion

very good score i think the highest is 99, i know someone who got a 96. really your asvab doesn't help all that much with bonuses and such but a good score does allow them to place you in the job that fits you best. the army is the only branch of service that guarantees you the job you want but you must also have a talent for it and test high on it on the asvab. things like college credits, jrrotc and rotc or bilingual skills will get you bigger bonuses and of course specialized jobs get you higher bonuses too. just make sure that whatever you are promised you get in writing before you sign the contract at meps. if its not in writing you won't get it.

Are they letting people in the Air Force now? They were trying to get people to leave the AF to go to the Army.I was in in 1998, don't remember what I got on the ASVAB, but yes if you can walk, talk and breath, you will get in. I actually got the job I wanted when I went in, Airfield Management, best job ever!

Good score. Do not take the six year program for the bonus. Do not sign up for open general. Do not sign for a type of job with general in it. For example general electronics. Have everything on paper.
