I have been dealing with OCD for about 6 years but never seeked help for it. I tryed to get rid of it on my own, I have been under extreme stress latley and it's getting worse. I'm going to the DR today. Can anyone relate? What should I expect when I go to the DR?

I've had OCD since I was 11, I'm 25 now and I'm pretty much free from rituals and I've learned to turn the compulsive thoughts into constructive organization. More people have it than you may think, you're certainly not alone. The Dr. will be used to it and may put you on a medicine and/or send you to a psychiatrist. It's all pretty routine for them and will help you alot.

My cousin had it. We went to his house for a barbeque, & when someone would use an ashtray (we're outside) he'd grab it & clean it out. He would come home for lunch & clean the bathroom. The house was already immaculate. His wife finally left him. It's a good move going to a dr. Best of luck to you.

It does get worse under stress. You should expect a lot of questions, diagnosis and treatment with some sort of antidepressant.

yes i have OCD.
one thing when meeing with your doc today...dont be afraid to share all of your symptoms. many times people with OCD dont share all because they fear being diagnosed as insane and locked up. this fear is part of the obsessional thinkng. if your doc has any experience with OCD , he will recognise your symptoms and attribute them accordingly.
a good site to visit which has helped me tremandously over the years is... www.planetocd.com
good luck :)
