According to the photo, yes you can get a ticket for running a red light. That's the problem with cameras at red lights, they only photograph your vehicle when the light is red...it doesn't show when you actually entered the intersection, which is the basis for "running a red light." You're not running a red light if you've entered the intersection on green or yellow and it turns red while you're in the intersection; you're running a red light if the light is red and you enter on the red.

If left turns are controlled by a green arrow, you should wait behind the line. That way you won't find yourself trapped out in the middle of the intersection. Sometimes you're not sure exactly when the green arrow will come on. Green arrows permit several vehicles to make the left turn, so waiting behind the line is not a problem. However, if there's no green arrow, you should move past the line, into the intersection and wait for oncoming traffic to clear. This permits at least two vehicles to make the turn. Never turn your wheels left while you're waiting, though. Do so only when you're ready to make the actual turn. If they're turned left and you get hit from behind, you could get sent into oncoming traffic.

If the camera got you, it probably got the suv also. That picture should tell the story that you were waiting until it was safe.
