I personally have no respect for anyone elses religion other than the Jews. I tolerate all religions, I think that people can be what they want to be as long as they don't want to kill me. Is this way of thinking wrong in your oppinion, especially Christians? How can we respect something that we know is false. Atheists, I know you think they are all false, so I don't really need that information.

No it has nothing to do with sin and sinners. It has to do with live and let live. But I cant respect something that I do not believe is true.

real definition, as considered by me and most others
Tolerance: To accept that someone can live harmoniously with you.
Respect: To hold someones thoughts or action equal or over your own. To approve of.

I respect others freedom to choose. I tolerate their choices out of that respect. It doesn't mean I agree with them but I won't argue about it either. If I am asked I answer trying to be patient, loving and kind. (Of couse, I have been known to fall short of those goals.)

Both words are almost synonymous. I don't respect/hold in high esteem other religions because I think they're wrong however, I do respect a person's "right" to believe as they wish. God was quite clear about how we should act towards those who don't receive us;

Luk 9:5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

It sounds like the love the sinner hate the sin crap, just another way of playing with semantics to make yourself look good. yeah christians look good, like a a hairless chihuahua looks good.......... some christians take the fact that someone is not a christian personally, so id rather just say yeah i hate christians, than beat around the bush about it.

I tolerate them in that I don't go killing them all. I don't respect any of them either.

Why is it though that most people have an intollerance for us christians?

Kind of an oxymoron, don't you think?

You can be respectful to the person... not necessarily the belief.
