That is nothing but Hollywood's depiction of something they know nothing about.

They teach you to be a military person. It is difficult. You are transforming civilians into military personnel and must accomplish that is a relatively short time. To many it is a life changing experience. Most are forced to grow up-quickly. But most are better for the experience. It changed my life and I will be forever grateful to the Marines for it. Sure they treat you like dung for the boot camp part of your training. Tear you down and build you back up again. Hardest thing I'd ever done up to that point in my young life. But my time in was one of the most rewarding experiences -something to be proud of your entire life. Things can be taken away from you and you can suffer personal and financial disappointments. But they can never take away the eagle, globe, and anchor. That is yours-forever.

No, it's pretty much true for ALL the branches of service...

They all suck and you have to be a mindless shell to be able to survive in the atmosphere becuase 95% of the people have no common sense and think they have the "right" to tell other people how to be and live their life even though their "half-wits"... This definately isn't a good choice for someone with a brain, self worth, interests in life or a purpose in life...

No, and you answered that your self, Like in the movies. If the movies showed how they were really treated, it would not make for good TV. Just like your house would not make for good tv so they make up Desperate Housewife's, GOOD FOR TV

No, you are only treated like sh*t if you don't do your job. Then, you kind of ask for it.
