1st of all I am a tattoo artist that is learning and when I 1st began yes I used indian ink due to the fact it was cheap and something you could pick up locally no special ordering needed. It is by far NOT the popular ink among REAL tattoo artists meaning people that are liscensed and work in REAL shops !!!
The most known ink used by professionals is VOODOO ink ...
You can verify this and look for other well known inks and where to get it online use a search engine such as yahoo or google.
Indian ink is KNOWN to fade and spread over time causing small lines to run into one another.

My favorite inks are Starbrite, Intenze, and Iron Butterfly. Some of your most famous tattoo artists like Guy Aitchison, my idol, uses these inks as well. But it's all personal preference.

I have fairly fair skin, and i have a white tattoo. It's a superman symbol that's filled in with white and red. It came out great. The only problem with white ink is that if you get your tattoo removed, the only color that will stay is white, so that's why some tattoo artists wont use it. Plus another problem that they encounter is that the colors will bleed into the white if they're not a good tattooer. ♥
