You crazy asking such a question? Leave them be....I would allow them even easier access to guns. My reasoning being that because they are so gung ho and trigger happy, more of the buggers will kill each other Therefore, fewer gung ho trigger happy yanks.

Crazy Hors is right, it is the illegal guns that are responsible for most crimes.
Americans live in a more violent society than we do in the UK, and they do need to have some degree of protection to combat this. It is true that gun-crime breeds more gun-crime.In the UK, prior to the 1960`s very few criminals carried a gun. The reason being that if they were caught carrying a gun whilst committing a crime (say ,house breaking) then they were charged also with being in possession of a deadly weapon, and the gaol (jail) sentence was increased dramatically. Now as in America, many police do carry guns and this has changed the face of crime over here. In fifty years time or less, perhaps we may have `home` weapons also. I do hope not.

It's a fair question - why ban gambling but not guns?

The US has way more deaths per head of population that any other developed country:

Gun deaths per 100 000 population (1999):

USA 10.58
Canada 3.34
Switzerland 6.28
Scotland 0.39
England/Wales 0.35
Japan 0.09

BTW having a gun is not a constitutional right - the Constitution says "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." A guy with a handgun under his pillow does not consitute a well regulated militia, neither does a guy with a rifle on his wall or a guy with a gun tucked into his belt.

What's the saying "You can have my gun... when you pry it from the fingers of my cold dead child"

could the Hatfields and the McCoys have a delightful capturing contest? As a Yankee fan, there is not any one i might extremely see them beat than Boston, yet not fairly every time. i choose their followers to have some hopes and then see those hopes squashed like bugs! There could be undesirable thoughts, yet with stable sportsmanship, if it particularly is clever. Hate the uniform, not the guy wearing it. i could be lost with out the purple Sox. There at the instant are not any excuses for 2004. The Yankees merely could not get the outs they mandatory. Congratulations, see you in yet another 86 years.

I would like to point out that most gun crime in this country is done with firearms that were acquired illegally. 99% of legal firearm owners in this country are law abiding citizens who have firearms for #1 Protection or #2 Recreation.

Gun ownership has its pros and cons. I suppose you don't recall that in World War II we sent our personal firearms to the UK so British citizens could protect themselves. If your country allowed gun ownership, that would not have been necessary.

The sad stat is that a lot of people get killed for nothing.
58,000 people are murdered in america every year. Most of them are young black men that have been killed because of drug related crime.
Maybe the problem is drugs and not the right to keep and bear arms at all.
