The drug smuggler shot by two U.S. Border Patrol agents is planning to sue the federal government for $5 million. Walter Boyaki, the El Paso, Texas-based attorney for Osvaldo Aldrete-Davila, said he will sue the government for wrecking his client’s business.
“Osvaldo was making $100,000 a month from his export/import business,” Boyaki said. “Now he is laid up with an embarrassing and incapacitating injury. We are seeking both compensatory damages for lost profits and punitive damages for the indignities Osvaldo has suffered.”
Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean recently began serving prison sentences after being convicted of shooting Aldrete-Davila. The pair encountered the drug smuggler in February of 2005 driving a van containing 743 pounds of marijuana. When the Mexican tried to flee, the agents shot him in the buttocks.
“They violated my client’s rights,” Boyaki said. “And the damages are mounting up. He’s got customers whose deliveries have been interrupted. This is trashing his business reputation and endangering future sales. His employees are too frightened to carry on in the climate of violence created by out-of-control border guards. They are demanding raises. His family has had to cancel their European vacation. He has no money to buy gifts for his mistress. It’s a real tragedy.”

Selling drugs is illegal. So therefore any profits made from illegal activity would be seized.
This has surely got to be a joke.
Where is his pride?
He is announcing to the entire world with these complaints that he is a criminal, adulterer and incapable of taking care of himself or his family in an honorable way.
Total trash, I hope he gets a staph infection and rots in his bed.
Sorry, this really irritated me, I can find no gentle words.

You obviously didn't read the whole story. It wasn't just the drug smuggler that testified against the officers, there were other officers that testified against them. The officers shot an unarmed man who was fleeing, then tampered with the crime scene and evidence to the point that the US Attorney's officer could not prosecute the drug smuggler, and then lied to their suprvisor's and investigators about the incident. I have no love for illegal immigrants. I have no love for drug smugglers. I have a tremendous amount of respect for the men and women who protect our borders, but these guys were wrong. Here's a little quote about your "agent of the year": "Reality: Agent Ramos has never received any formal recognition or award for being the Border Patrol Agent of the year. In fact, he has been arrested on at least two occasions for domestic abuse and was formally disciplined for conduct unbecoming a federal officer." Try doing a little research, links already provided.

The prosecutor need to be disbarred, and the illegal alien drug smuggler has no rights here, he should be put in prison for drug smuggling and then deported. This government is turning upside down. Good people are being prosecuted and the criminal is being rewarded.

What civil rights - he's an illegal alien criminal. The criminal part is not just the fact that he's here illegally. He a drug smuggler that the jury believed instead of the two heroes!
I think they should put the bullet back into his butt - not really so don't report me

Just a prime example of illegal immigration policy. What part of ILLEGAL do these people not understand?! Stick his wounded butt in jail and then deport him with a a tracking device embedded in his flesh. We need to keep track of those known criminals coming and going across the border.
