1Corinthians 7:25 "Now concerning virgins, I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgement as one that hath obtained the mercy of the Lord to be faithful."

Paul was the homophobe not God.

Paul's opinion is meaningless to me.

crack me up, David S. Could you be any more ignorant? Why would someone have to be gay to state the obvious. The bible is hate filled fiction!

You're right, Jesus himself (assuming he actually existed) never said anything about homosexuals.

Paul was probably a self-loathing homosexual himself.

He never married, had an intense aversion to women, preferred the company of younger, attractive males and complained continually of being tormented by his "thorn in the flesh", which resonates with homoerotic undertones.

Paul's subconscious was probably trying to tell in code what he couldn't say upfront.

Anyway, the concept of homosexuality as a sexual orientation didn't even exist back then, so the Greek words in Paul's writings that a lot of Christians use to justify their bigotry were probably mistranslated in the first place.

Of course that doesn't matter to a lot of them, as Christianity is often just an ego-stroking self-affirmation vehicle they use to reinforce their own opinions anyway.

It isn't considered the word of god. Did you not read exactly what the sentence you just copied says??? He has "no commandment (from) the lord" yet he is offering his own opinion. How can you write a sentence and then claim it states the exact opposite of what it specifically just said? I just don't get how you could miss it so plainly stated. That said, I don't believe in god but it seems pretty obvious that 1Corinthians 7:25 is explicitly stating that is not the word of god.

24
Brothers, everyone should continue before God in the state in which he was called.
25
Now in regard to virgins, I have no commandment from the Lord, 11 but I give my opinion as one who by the Lord's mercy is trustworthy.
26
So this is what I think best because of the present distress: that it is a good thing for a person to remain as he is.
27
Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek a separation. Are you free of a wife? Then do not look for a wife.
28
If you marry, however, you do not sin, nor does an unmarried woman sin if she marries; but such people will experience affliction in their earthly life, and I would like to spare you that.

I believe God's written word is just the way He wants it, and i believe the Word of God is Jesus.

A man, sister

sorry couldn't pass that up

Paul is credited with the invention of a very hateful group of elitists - christians, whom even Jesus would not have recognized

I feel there is no god, though, just people like Jesus who did cool stuff, acted on thier beliefs instead of sitting on them

I can create and do con acts like Paul did, as do many today

why not create a new religion that is about equality, fairness, love and action? I think there is and it has a name

humanity

After you have walked in Paul's shoes for a while, I might be interested in your opinion. Just who are you to call Paul a bigot? Read through the book of Acts and see what Luke had to say about Paul's life during the early church.

Because Paul's words are part of the Biblical Canon.

This question is gOOoooD! Paul had a vision to infuse his Mythrasism with judaism. Paul was from Tarsus, Tarsus is the birth place of the god mythra.

The mas has direct quotes from mythra. Paul has duped the world and offended Him. Paul is the Adversary and christianity is modern devil worship through the eyes of Torah. WAKE UP!

Explain this:
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination" (Lev. 18:22)
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination..." (Lev. 20:13)
The point is neither are homophobes. You are simply trying to justify a perversion that the Bible does not condone. If you didn't feel guilty about your sin you wouldn't try so hard to explain it away. The fact is you know in your heart what the truth is but you reject the truth and in doing so you reject God; because you love your sin.

If Paul's words are meaningless to you, why do you waste your time coming to this room and asking questions about them? If you're this obsessed about the Bible, you need to find out why.

God bless and try harder next time to get my goat.

What? What does that verse have to do with homosex?

You know what that verse you quoted means? Someone asked Paul if young girls should marry or remain virgins. Paul said there was no commandment for girls to marry or not, so he was going to offer his personal advice.

I don't understand your question.
