I really like this guy, and at first we hit it off so well, but as time goes by, we find that we are quite different. He is everything I am looking for, but he does not feel the same. I really think that he would like me if he would really get to know me. The last thing I want to do is waste my time and get hurt. What should I do?

No pain, no gain. There is no way to make it to adulthood without at least taking the chance of "being hurt". Being hurt is such a crummy term for it anyway. It makes it sound like you were abused and scarred for life when all it really amounts to is that you went through an uncomfortable emotional period when you found out that the other person didn't see things the way you do.

Honestly, if he's told you that already.... well I would say don't waste your time. All that will end up happening is you will try to change yourself to be what he wants, and you'll end up losing who you are and settling for someone who didn't apprecaite you for the kick *** person you were on your own. In the meantime, you'll probably meet someone who totally would love the real you, but you'll have already commited to this other guy and this new you you're trying to be, and either completely not see the opportunity for real happiness or worse, just not take it. Keep searching and stay true to YOU.

WASTE YOUR TIME.? already you should hear yourself.
life is a roller coaster and if you were ever married or in any serious kind of relationship then you would see that this is true.

just look at the divorce rate? are these losers just wasting their time? probably..but you don't always know that when you start any relationship...first there are kisses then there is tears...
Walt Disney said for every laughter their is a tear.
When you get married (and you probably will and probably to a man_) but whoever she or he is you will one day wake up and say who in the hell are they?..enough said..but of you will be different because you know better..ask mom and dad...they know

Do you want to keep a relationship with this guy knowing how he is? Do you feel you are wasting time with him? Do you think he may have another interest other than you? What does your heart tell you? Listen to your heart and get in touch with your feelings and then act accordingly.

Have confidence in yourself. That is the #1 most important thing for you to remember. If he is not interested in getting to know you then maybe this is a sign that he is not the one for you. Do not settle it will make you miserable. If he is the ONE then you would not be experiencing these issues. Keep the friendship and move on. There will be someone who wants to know you for you.

If he doesn't feel the same about you then he really ISNT perfect for you. Someone perfect for you will think you are perfect for them. Who wants to spend time trying to convince someone else how great they are? Find some one that will know that from the start. :)

Unfortunately if he doesn't feel the same there is nothing you can do. Don't waste your time, don't settle for anything less than amazing!

You answered your own question when you said " we find that we are quite different " It isn't going to work no matter how much you want it to.
