I'm moving into an apartment where the walls have a hideous paint color. I need to get ideas of what i can do to cover the walls without ruining hte paint job or the wall itself. will removing a starch soaked fabric wall covering ruin the paint underneath? thanks for all the answers :)

Nope, but don't soak the fabric. Moisten thoroughly, or wring out well.

Without knowing exactly what kind of paint is on the walls, I cannot say for sure, but if it is the cheap junk most landlords use, about anything will ruin it. when you give them a security depsosit, you can pretty much kiss it good by any way. do what you want, if and when you move just leave it and kiss off the security deposit. Obviously though you are a contientious person or would not be asking the question. it is POSSIBLE the starch glue won't hurt anything, but I doubt they used good quality paint and painters that did a good job of prepareing the walls before they painted. most places i have lived, breathe to hard and the paint comes off the walls, they use such cheap stuff.

Go to a hardware or paint store, even Ur malls can advise u in their paint departments.

you can do it ,but it's a pain. sometimes with warm water sprayed on, let it soak in and then with a plastic putty knife scrape it off. that usually works. or you can just paint over it with a good rich color.
