The female is older than the female. The female has just finished mulching, but the male had not even started. Do I have to wait untill the male mulches or will they lay eggs at all? they are both healthy, we even took them to the vet not long ago to get a checkup. (Oh, and the female seems to bite a lot. even before we got the male bird(he was all alone). Is that normal?)

Nope. You have to put in a nesting box for budgies to mate. Otherwise they just stay friends. And yes, sometimes they bite. We used to have a pair and the girl used to beat up the boy all the time. She still loved him though. When he got sick and died she pined away for a long time.

Hi there. Well molting can be stressful for a bird. I would use a good pellet diet, limit seeds to 10%, give fruits and veggies 10%, avoid avocado and chocolate due to being toxic for birds. Chop some hard cooked egg with the crumbled shell for the extra protein and calcium needed 4 times a week. Add this to their diet. Studies show that all seed diets lead to malnutrition. Purchase a nest box made for parakeets. Most cost 10 dollars or less. Provide nesting material like shredded newspaper, cotton balls, string, dryer lint and allow the female to build her own nest. They have to be compatible. This really is up to your hen.You may get lucky, so don't give up. To train birds effectively, they should be separated because they will bond with each other rather than to us. When she bites, don't over react and push into the bite and she will let go. Give her a calm but firm "No." This takes time. If it becomes a bigger problem. put her in time out with the cage covered just for one minute and she will learn good behaviour means more play time.Wear gloves if you need to. Molting can be stressful and uncomfortable, I taught mine to enjoy a warm bath by flicking the water in the sink and acting happy and enthusiastic. You can get them on their new diet by eating or pretending to eat the food and saying how yummy it is. Since you are flock leader, they will follow your lead. I didn't believe this method until I tried it and wow it works.May you and your fids (feathered kids) have a mutually beneficial relationship. Have a tweet year.

That is very true haha, I am wanting a girl this time because I already have a boy and he is a wild child. Boys calm down when they get older and girls start to get a little carried away. Girls aren't always cute, though they have a lot more of a selection on baby girl clothes. lol

I would imagine so. I have two cockatiels and they mate a lay eggs. Have gotten two offspring so far. Get a book at your pet shop. It'll help you understand what to do after they lay the eggs.
It's fun to watch them hatch and then feed the little guys.

They need to have a nesting box for them to breed, but even then there's no guarantee that they will breed. Why do you want them to?

Only if they find each other attractive. Has the female got a nice butt?
