Why can't church goers admit that their faith is often the result of a faithful upbringing. There is no choice in this world, everything is cause and effect. For example, more criminals come from bad enighborhoods than good ones. Does God just isolate criminals to families in bad neighborhoods?

How can you believe in a God that condemns you to an eternity of hell and torture for not believing in him when it really isn't your decision at all?

No.... my parents, siblings and extended family are mostly believers. I have some cousins like me.

I believe that we do have a choice, and it is a decision that each of us can make. We are influenced by our upbringing, but not bound by it.

Edit: There are just as many criminals from "good" neighborhoods as bad ones... the ones in wealthy neighborhoods just get better lawyers.

For the first 11 years of my life I was brought up a Catholic. I am now a Chrisitan and now know God's true words in His Holy Bible. I am no longer a Catholic, but a child of God thanks to that young man who led me straight into the loving and mercifuly arms of Jesus. This was something that Catholic church does not teach.

My parents are both unbelievers. I was told by my dad that "religion is crap", and my mother had issues with violence and rage.

I am a Christian, but not because of my upbringing.
