I moved into my flat over a year ago and I have always wondered what the big red button does on the intercom. (It's not the button to let people in).. I daren't press it incase I call the emergency services or something equally as embarrassing.. anyone know what it does?

My guess is that it is some kind of a duress or emergency button which is why it is red. If all else fails, you could ask your landlord or whoever installed it.
