Yeah, but the bomb was dropped from a US plane who thought he was dropping it on bad guys DESPITE the fact he'd clearly seen the markings on the vehicle clearly marking it as an ally, and radioed in that fact.

What's the old WW2 saying:
'When the British shoot, the German's duck,
When the Germans shoot, the British duck,
When the Americans shoot, EVERYONE ducks!'

Not a lot seems to have changed 60 years on.

It all depends on the situation. Take an instance where one sniper is picking off American soliders or Marines and they only have a general idea (building) they're being fired upon from. This is clearly not overkill. However, one terrorist roaming the desert with his camel with a bomb strapped to him...yeah, overkill.

lol, I answered another Q seriously on this earlier,
but because of u the image of that massive explosive thing falling and taking out 1 ally instead of the enemy was such a funny irony that even though it resulted in the death of one of our guys it still made me lol,
ps
for the record like I said in the other Q on this, we make em just less we are more professional, and one of the biggest is being allied to the US,, sorry that's just the way I see it

The forces of the USA, unlike UK may have a 'dry' culture but they certainly DO NOT APPEAR to have any restictions on drug taking.
How else can they confuse 'orange panels' for "orange rocket launchers" before opening fire NOT JUST ONCE BUT TWICE.

Generally speaking yes. However if the target is high pri and depending on the ROE (rules of engagement) and what other choices the aircraft has maybe not.

That would depend on the soldier, and where he's positioned. If he's spotting for artillary that raining down on friendly troops and he's located in a concrete bunker, not overkill.

Has anybody noticed how the British people here seem to think that they never make mistakes?

Is this sort of attitude common among the British people?

Depends on how highly valued the target is and what the other circumstances are. If we are talking about someone in the mountains of Afghanistan, then it might be necessary.

Depends if he's a crew or a member firing AAA (Anti-Aircraft Artillery) no it is not overkill. If it was me I'd use it and not shed a tear.

This was not overkill in my mind it was murder all the vehicles were marked to show they were part of the (So called) coalition they had on big orange circles
