It depends. You'll get the most out of it if you have a newer PC with lots of RAM and a heavy duty graphics card that can make the most of the new features.
Unless you've only just recently got a new PC with plenty of capacity for Vista, there probably isn't any point upgrading until you get a new machine. By which point any major bugs still left will have been ironed out and you'll get the best exprience from the new operating system.
If you are prepared to potentially upgrade your existing machine, particularly RAM and/or graphics card, then go for it - don't believe all the doom and gloom. MS have tested Vista more than any other operating system and with Windows Update etc. you'll get fixes really quickly.

stay with xp for now
vista will not run most virus protection
and to change over to vista you need a large hard drive and a big processor
and also lots of memory
most people do not know this some do
me i am going to wait at least until next year
xp will be supported by windows until 2012 so you have time to wait
check c-net.com for more info

Personally I'm leaving Vista alone - I see no need to change & there are numerous issues with Vista, not the least being that it is very resource-hungry and there are very few programs, drivers etc for it yet.

I would wait about 6 months until I switched over. That way they can work the initial bugs out.
