Getting moisture into the hair shaft is the key. There is a book called Curly Girl that actually recommends that those with curly or wavy hair wash their hair with a rich conditioner rather than shampoo - it sounded crazy to me but I've tried it and it works. Also, use a gel or leave-in conditioner and let it air dry. Don't use a brush when its dry - just comb it right before you wash it and then use your fingers to style. You will have no frizz, just natural curl.

I am a sufferer of frizzy hair and have finally got it tamed.
Firstly choose your shampoo and conditioner carefully. You want to avoid the plasticy ones like Pantene and Fructis as they make it worse (they work by coating the hair in plastic giving an appearance of healthy hair when actually the opposite is true). Tresemme is good (and very good value) - use the purple one for the straw like hair. Frizz Ease also do a shampoo and conditioner but it is quite expensive.
Next step once it's towel dried is to apply something to it. I like a big dollop of either the Elvive pink squeezy bottle of light reflecting stuff, or the orange sunsilk 24/7 leave in conditioner:

For least frizz allow to dry naturally, however if you have to blow dry it, do it at a low heat on a low speed if possible. Try not to just blast it with heat whenever you're drying it.
Once dry, smooth on some soft wax to keep the flyaway frizz at bay. My newest thing I can't live without is the Nicky Clarke Red Carpet soft Wax:

I hope you find this helpful.

Kerastase Oleo-relax shampoo and mask are soooo good. They are expensive... I know but it's worth it. Also, if you have somewhere to go then wash your hair the previous day and not the day of the event. That way you allow natural oils from your scalp to develop and that means....less frizz.
