I started a new job a year ago and all I do is sit at a desk and type all day long. I commute to work, also. This puts me sitting on my butt for about 10.5 hours a day, whereas in my old job, I ran the floor all day long at Walmart. I have gained 15 lbs. since I started this job, beings that I am not running all over the place anymore. Any ideas how to lose some of this weight? I am 5'11 tall and weigh 165lbs. One year ago I weighed only 150lbs. I never had to exercise before, but I also never sat on my butt all day either. No smart *** answers please. I know I need to do some type of exercising!! My extra weight is in my belly, butt and thighs. Thanks to all with good advice!!

I feel you. I took an office job almost 2 years ago. I like my job but it is VERY sedentary. I've always worked as a waitress before; running constantly. In less than 2 years I have gained almost 40 pounds. Now I am working to get it off. This is not easy.

I have started working out 3 days a week (entirely cardio right now treadmill and elliptical), hardest part is NO MORE SNACKS AT MY DESK, I drink lots of water, only diet sodas (no more than 2 per day), and I pack my lunch usually salads with lite dressing. So far I have lost 10 pounds, only 30 more to go (to get back to my starting point). I also eat a small breakfast (low sugar oatmeal usually) and for dinner I keep my portions in check. This is tough, I love to eat and I love to cook.

I'd take a balanced diet and do floor exercises. Also take stairs. Not lifts. If you don't have time to take walks. Or go to a gym.
Both are better.
Takes longer to lose than put on.
