This category cud be used for learning bout other religions by askin ppl who are of that religion.Or else yahoo cud just remove this category.

People are people. Going door to door, I have met people just like these face to face. Some are rude and insulting, others are polite and respectful. Some wish to discuss religion or the Bible intelligently. Others wish to use the Bible to their own ends. Some are seeking knowledge and understanding others are seeking a way to hurt others. I must say however, that there are more negative influences here than I encounter in the real world. I think this is due to peoples feeling more courageous when they can be anonymous. They will say things they might never say out loud publicly.

It appears that when it comes to religion nobody has an open mind. It is truly sad but this section only proves that the majority of religions today only bring out the worst in people. I also find it rather interesting that the so called "non religious" participants in this category bash the believers with just as much fervor as a medieval crusader. There are very few people (both believers and non-believers alike) that seem to get what Yahoo Answers is all about when it comes to religion and spirituality.

I'm with you all the way. For a category to be as hot as "Religion & Spirituality" is, I'd really like for it be broken up into smaller categories. It could even be as simple as "Christianity, Atheism, The Rest" from what I've seen on here. I would LOVE to be able to ask and answer questions directed only towards Christians without having to read the silly responses from people who just want to get a rise out of Christians. I'm sure the atheists would feel the same way. Heck, we could even add in the "Debate your religious beliefs!" section to appease the whole lot.

It's good that religion can be discussed openly, even with the bashing that goes on. The underlying question in any religion is whether there's any continuance of life after death. And if there's a chance that there might be an eternal life that's waiting for us beyond the grave, it's of paramount importance that one be fully educated on the issues of life, death, judgement, eternity, etc. Even if you don't believe in a God, don't let school, TV, society, or your friends convince you of this, investigate the issues for yourself, the consequences of your beliefs could be massive. I find that the most venomous people on both sides of the fence are the people who have very little facts but lots of emotion, so educate yo'self!!

I have learned much from this site about other religions. I have also learned a whole lot about how people of different religions and beliefs treat each other when they know they are anonymous. This site is a fine "slice of life", a sampling of how the world really feels when it comes to religion and tolerance and understanding. Sadly, the majority of the world feels antagonistic towards those not like themselves.

This category is more about debate than putting people down. There are people that do bash at other people, but they will learn of their mistakes. As for me, this is an OK site to go to because when people ask serious questions, they usually get serious answers.

I agree with you 100% and I will not debate with an atheist any more. I was even turned in for asking if someone needed prayer because they asked how close they were to the Kingdom of heaven. They offered nothing else but this remark. I'm a Christian the first thing I am going to ask is "Do you need prayer, are you sick?" This is what I asked nothing more nothing less.I was turned in! I gave this person the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were sick. They came into our site and I was reported!!!!!!!!!!

It's funny but I was just thinking the same thing. I feel like leaving this category because the answers are not that serious and I know some have good intentions but it seems like good intentions is not enough.

Religion is such a delicate subject (when I was growing up there were 3 subject not to be discussed in public...religion was one of them) it is bound to arise high emotions. There are some of us who still like to discuss spirituality...which is the urge within the human being beyond all religious followings.

Some people do learn about other religions here. It's just that most people don't come here to learn. Most come here to pick on others, antagonize, or spew their version of what is right. But I don't want this category removed. It's so much fun!
