get an MRI. If you suffer from headaches regularly always get an MRI or even better would be a functional mri, called the fMRI.

Yuck!

The inner ear infection might be causing part of this.

I can't guarantee that this will work, but here are things your friend can try:

1)Drink more water. Sometimes headaches point to mild dehydration.
2)Use steam, whether from hot drinks, a hot shower, or other source. That seems to help too, especially if the pain is in the sinuses.
3)A couple of weekends ago, I had a rather nasty headache and nausea. What finally knocked that out was tea with fresh ginger shaved into it, and a good head massage. Try that.
4)This may or may not apply, but your friend might need to get his eyes checked. Sometimes eye strain causes headaches.

If those don't work, your friend should see a doctor who specializes in pain management: The one he's seeing now might not really be able to see what's going on here.

Good luck!

i would suggest first that he keep a food diary to see if anything he is ingesting is the cause. Get into a pattern of sleep and rest and stick to it. Drink plenty of water, dehydration is a cause for headaches.
taking a B-complex, liquid form under the tongue. this helps with the body to deal with stress successfully. Some headaches are triggered by stress.
The final note would be for your friend to be aware of thoughts, keep a positive frame of mind.
Perhaps a visit to a chiropractor should be scheduled

10 years ago when my husband had them the head of neurology at UCDavis told him that running a body low on water was as bad as running a car low on oil (which can eventually lead to a blown engine)
Most of the headaches we get are caused by the muscles having knots called trigger points in them. For full information on where read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies - it teaches how to get rid of them.

Suggest to your friend that he gets a consultation with either a craniosacral therapist or a cranial osteopath.
These headaches can often be cured by the very gentle work that these practitioners do.
