My mother was a American and I understand I can have a dual citizenship. What are the advantages and disadvantages? How do I get one?

My Mother was American and my Father is Canadian I was born in the states ..........they applied to the gov of Canada and the granted it when I was 14.....

if you are over 18, your mother can sponsor you for a green card/residence permit.

If you are under 18, you can probably get citizenship based on being born by an American mother.

Check with the US embassy with your exact details.

Advantages - Able to live and work in US and have US passport

Disadvantage - US citizens pay taxes on worldwide income. But only an issue if you make over $80,000 per year and wrok in a low tax country

What country are you from? You could get a dual citizenship depending on your home country and thier rules and if they allow dual citizenship. Check with your embassy or consulate.

you have to take a test in a government office or somethin my parents did it there dutch/canadian
