1st off, this is not in anyway a gay bash! If you interpret it as such, you interpret wrong! This is a serious question that I wanted to know the answer to.

How do you, as a gay person, & also says they are a Christian, reconcile your lifestyle? There is no denying by anyone that the Bible says homosexuality is a sin. Many want to re-interpret or change the meaning to fit them. But as a Christian, how do you read the many passages that refer to it as an abomination & still continue? Do you think that if you are good in other areas its ok?

Even if you feel that you were born gay, decided to become, or anything else, how does it make you feel knowing you are going against the will of the God you serve? Dont get me wrong, its the same with the adulterer who claims Christianity, thief, liar, drunkard, whoremonger, killer & all others that are not to receive the kingdom according to God.

I think that the lifestyle is hard enough to deal w/ & add on trying to make it fit w/ God.

youre missing what I put in my statement. Im not bashing! Its a real question. Not out to hurt feelings. Thats not what a Christian does!

Laura- you are contradicting yourself. How could men write what they wanted but kept things they didnt agree with?

primoa
although I agree, thats not what this is about

Gael
right, they cant go together

I did not make any claims! I asked a question. Things with question marks are called 'questions' things with a period are called 'statements' source: 2nd grade

?!
if you read what I said, you would see that all those things WERE included. But if you also read the Bible it does hold some sins as worse than others, its man that is extra tolerant of what he chooses

carwheels
Im not sure what your point is but if you are a minister, you should know that God was not writing for fad

not talking about YOUR FEELINGS, talking about what the Bible says. As a Catholic, you should know or at least been told that the Bible is the word of God & not a fairytale. I used to be Catholic & that doesnt sound much like one at all. And isnt the Bible what Christians use AS the guide for morals? Isnt that what the Bible is for?

DanielR
read what I wrote! I addressed exactly that! I am NOT (once again) bashing.

elizabeth
You are the ONLY one so far that even understands what the question is! Second of all this question is for GAYS who say they are CHRISTIAN! I have not heard from any yet.

So far I haven't seen any answers supporting the stance that homosexuality is okay in Christianity that haven't just made up their own twisted logic to justify it.

Homosexuality is mentioned in the same section as incest and beastiality in Leviticus. Not soddomy, but homosexuality. It's called an "abomination." It's not like eating catfish or shrimp, animals deemed unclean for health reasons. According to the Bible, it's an abomination. Plain and simple. It's mentioned yet again the NT when we were under the new law. It's NOT the same as lying or stealing- it's a lifestyle of continual sin. Being Christian, according to the Bible, means living as God would command, living in His word. Continuing to sin without repenting is NOT following His will. There's a huge difference between messing up and KNOWING what you did is wrong and messing up all the time and THINKING what you did is okay.

I too am not trying to "gay bash." I'm simply stating what I've read in the Bible myself. Again, if someone has an actual logical and Biblically sound argument, I'd love to hear it too.

You need to read up on the history of Christianity and the Bible before you can make a claim like that. You have NO idea what you're talking about.

Edit: Jesus never spoke about homosexuality in the New Testament. Christianity is centered around him, is it not? Your question is not a question, but a thinly veiled attack at gay people. If it were truly a question, you would not tell people there is only one way to read the Bible. You should know by now that every branch of Christianity has its own spin of the Bible. Why do you think there are so many versions, like the New International Version, King James, Septuagint, etc...

Bottom line: there is no incompatibility between being Christian and being gay if you are truly following Jesus Christ's teachings. He spoke about treating everyone with love and respect and he always helped the marginalized peoples of society (which gay people are to this very day). It's the folks that choose to only pick out certain passages in the Bible to justify their discrimination and hatred toward homosexuals that makes it difficult for gay people, not the book itself.

Religion in my view is very homophobic and the two cannot marry without compromise. Often a Gay person will say that they believe in a religion such as Christiasim and defend their beliefs by stating that they do the best in line with their god. An example is John Barrowman who is a devout Christian and also a gay man.

First off, we don't determine who gets what punishment. Jehovah God is the one that reads peoples hearts and sees in them what we don't (1 Samuel 16:7) But Jehovah said to Samuel: “Do not look at his appearance and at the height of his stature, for I have rejected him. For not the way man sees [is the way God sees], because mere man sees what appears to the eyes; but as for Jehovah, he sees what the heart is.” . Also 1 Corinthians 6:9 & 10 lists characteristics like men who lie with men and fornicators but says that that's what "some of you WERE". People that have those feelings or tendencies and try to change are unlikely to get such severe punishment And last but not least, it doesn't matter whether you're gay or straight, premarital sex is unacceptable either way. So using a "toy" would not be following what it says at Colossians 3:5, "Deaden therefore your body members...as respects to fornication." Deadening the body members means abstaining from anything that is meant for arousal or sexual gratification.

It CLEARLY states in the bible that being gay is an abomination plain and simple.God didnt make them that way the devil did.People these days just dont care and are willing to distort what the bible says in order for them to trick themselves to believe that what they are doing is okay in the eyes of you're god.
If you homosexuales want to shove your opinions into the minds of every single person in america then I have the right to oppose you people. No im not a redneck a racist or anything.I devote my time to animal rights so dont think im a bad person trying to insult you.I am clearly speaking agianst something that is blatently wrong yet accepted.

I am not gay but would like to express my opinion on this subject if you will let me.
I am a christian (Roman Catholic )and in no way do I feel being gay is a sin! Remember, the Bible is a book, written by man. It is MAN'S interpretation of what God is preaching! Do you really believe that all the passages in the Bible are true occurrences or the exact words of God? I feel as long as you live your life morally correct God will not condemn you for your sexual preference!

I'm not a christian and I'm not gay but I have friends that are. The way they see it is that god made them and the bible was written by men that put their own interpretation in it. Things they didn't understand or thought were wrong were put in no matter what god said or wanted. That's what they think.

i am not gay but a believer and you are correct in the interpretation of homosexuality in the bible being a sin....BUT consider also lying, cheating, stealing, coveting, love of money, murder, rape, child molestation, judgment of others are all sins also...and ALL SIN is the SAME in the eyes of god so he does not rank it as one is worse than the other, its man who does that. don't you have some sin in your life that you know is wrong but you keep doing it ? do you think that someone who commits adultery whether physically or just in their hearts will not get into the kingdom of heaven? the bible is very clear on that, that if you covet another man/woman other than your spouse even if its in your mind you are committing adultery. now in saying that you must understand that he will judge all according to their sin and even though you or others might think being gay is worse than lying or cheating on a test or loving money its not. bottom line...we all need to work on our own sin and lets others deal with theirs and support each other, encourage each other and try to do good, thats all we can do as fallible human beings let god do the judging

I am sure that it is easy to justify.
1. GOD made them that way
2. on their deathbed they will ask for forgiveness
3. Seeing the moral decay of society (adultery, lying, abortion etc) it is not hard to ignore being gay in terms of the bible since others have done such a good job

Let me ask you this. Why do you single out the gays? I would say liars, adulterers, fornicaters and murderers are just as unappealing to God. Do you think that any of these types of sinners exist in the church? I am not gay and do not condone it. But, I also don't believe any sin is right. Just like when they were going to stone that prostitute in the Bible. Jesus said "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". Their is so much sin in the world, but to point a finger at someone is wrong. Try fixing yourself and not worrying about others.
