As a whole, airline tickets are considerably greater in value the closer to push-off you get. The tickets at that time have more value to the person who has to get on that flight and is therefore willing to pay more, so dont get your hopes up too high for a great deal.

try the website for the airlines, sometimes they have good deals, but most likely they are going to be more expensive, that option of cheap flights going to the airport and buy them there is not much in use anymore.
