Mind you I think the law would have been unconstitutional anyway. Still, it is good to see. What do you think?

think it was important we go through this debate today to let our individual constituencies know where we stand," the Gilbert Republican said.

It was clear that Republicans opposed the bill, viewing it as an affront to the free-speech rights of the First Amendment and the gun rights of the Second Amendment.

They also saw it as an attempt to stop the Minutemen, who have been patrolling Arizona's border for several years.

"These men and women who are serving in the Minutemen are patriots," Nichols said. They're responding to Arizonans' cry to shore up the border, a cry that the federal government has largely ignored, he said.

Chris Simcox, president of the Minuteman group, said the 9,000-plus member organization is "vigilant" but its members are not vigilantes.

"If we found someone engaged in vigilante behavior, we would report that (to law enforcement) because we abhor that," Simcox said.

I had been keeping a close watch on this and I am elated that it failed. But it never even had a chance to pass.Thank you for posing it.
The woman is anti Arizona and anti American.

yeah, and every instance of violence that have been in the news has been on the part of illegals or the border patrol. not the minutemen. why they want to pick on them is beyond my comprehension. maybe it's because they see that the american people are sick of the disregard that washington and local govts have for our immigration problem. and they see lost votes or potentially offending someone. especially dem's. everybody is a victim. even if they break the law. it's bull. in a few decades we will become the first people ever "conquered" without ever fighting a war. it has to stop. now.

Voting down a law that would have made armed vigilante groups legal - at last, something sensible from politicians!

yea im a liberal and even i didnt agree with this one it's really un american , but then again so is alot of the other b.s. going on in our country right now and not from our side but again yea this really isnt right like you stated it's most likely unconstitutional
and im glad it got voted down and i dont know if a fence will work but its better than nothing , oh and we should deport all of the illeagals we find no amesty or whatever the buzz word is week
the minute men "most of them" are just retierd vets and some regular people trying to protect thier country i eman there are some wakos in the group (as with any group look at bush) but most of them seem rather nice and a wholesome group i see nothing wrong with them what so ever i mean if we dont get this RX drug thing sorted out the canadains might start doing the same thing on thier boarders soon , only with hockey pucks haha
anyways thats my thoughts
cheers

If our government did what they are supposed to do, which is uphold the law, we wouldn't need american militia's to do it! Yet our constitution says we have a right to form a militia to protect from an invasion, which is what is happening today as our government sits there and does nothing. True patriots will protect the homeland. Politicians will sell america to the highest bidder. F***ing traitors!

All right! We private citizens can patrol the border AND be armed!! Gotta love that Second amendment.

I hope illegals take note of the article. This is a major victory for us.
