I was able to get him onto my finger and back into his cage. He was acting normal, but it looks as if he is bleeding. There is a very fine line between his nostrils there at the top of his beak, and I believe it is red, I don't know if it is cracked, cut, or what, and I am scared for him. Can anyone tell me if it is possible it is cracked, do you think he will be okay??!! I know he is not the first parakeet to fly into a closed window. I just want to know he is going to be okay. He is acting normal, should I just wait and let it heal? I am almost positive it is an injury from the window, though it is hard to see. It would really help if someone who has had a bird do this could give me some advice. Do you think it's a minor injury, or is it possible my bird's done cracked his little skull? I mean, he's not going to go to sleep and not wake up, is he???

If he is acting normal and responding to you. leave him and let him heal if he is injured. I don't think that he would have caused serious injury and, if he had, he would not ne normal and responsive to you. Just let him be, but give him attention and make sure he is alert and responding to you.

Hi there. He should be just fine. A great diet will help with the healing process. A good pellet food, 10% seed, 10% fruits and veggies. No chocolate or avocados. Personally I give mine some chopped cooked egg with crumbled shell 2-3 times a week. Protein helps birds to repair. Since you are the flock leader eat or pretend to eat the food. say enthusiastic things, in front of your tweety and this will perk his interest. He didn't lose consciousness on initial impact, so that is very good. Alertness is the best indicator of an intact nervous system. You can get hydrogen peroxide mixed with 1/2 water and dab a little on the area. Mix it with water so that it doesn't cause excessive dryness to the wounded area. Even if you do nothing, it will heal. Perhaps some removable stickers on the window may help the little guy.http://www.brightstarkids.com.au/rooms.shtml This place is just an idea. Things will work out fine. Have a tweet year

As long as he is not acting strange he should be ok and should heal just fine. I had a cockatiel do that once and ended up with a little cut exactly where you described. I make sure curtains or blinds are closed now if I let my bird out.

If the bird can sit up by himself on his perch, he should be ok. Birds that have brain damage can't hold their balance.
Keep him quiet and warm and keep watching him.
You should think about having his flight feathers trimmed. That will prevent him from flying into a window again - or worse, out of an open window and prey to neighborhood cats.

Answers 1. It will be difficult for them to learn together so if you want to train them you must do it individually. 2. In order to make your bird come just like that you have to finger perch train them. That is give it a slight push with your finger on the bird's chest until your bird sits on your finger. Do it gently. 3. Don't worry they can fly freely and even if they hit something they will not harm them. 4. You can clip the wings yourself but try to do it safely and properly. Improper clipping may make the bird feel bad because flying problem occurs till the wings grow. Claws can also be clipped but try not to clip them. 5. 4 parakeets is fine.

first, be vigilent! watch for any signs of abnormal behavior conducive to brain damage....off ballance, not eating/drinking.
do you have any kwik-stop?
its a yellow powder that will help to coagulate (i cant spell that) the blood and stop the bleeding, if he is still bleeding. do not put it on i you think his little skull is cracked, the powder will cause serious internal trouble. its fine to put it anywhere on the beak though. you can get it at a petshop, its mainly for if you clip the nails too short and it bleeds but ive used it on beaks before. keep me updated and i may be able to help you.
prayers to your little friend

If your bird can stand on it's perch by itself with out falling off then I wouldn't worry to much. though I would look into calling around to the pet stores and see if they can trim your birds wings. Most of them do it for free so you might want to look into that so you don't have to worry about your bird hurting itself again.
