Not in the USA. Officially, the reason is that there are ways to make dangerous moonshine. Lead solder in the tubes, disgusting stuff getting into the mix, cheap and fast processes leading to wood alcohol in the final product, explosive chemicals near open flames. Ask the shiners and the reason is that Uncle Sam doesn't get any taxes off of home hooch and when Uncle Sam doesn't get paid for you doing something he makes it illegal.

the proses is called distilling
you can make some wine then you put it in a pressure cooker with lots of coils more couils higher alcohol content
you can also use corn mash and corn meal
have fun making it.... moonshine is agaist the law dont get busted

go to your local library and check out a book called foxfire cant remember if it was in book one or two , but its step by step how to make the still and all also how to make wine and apple beer, good luck but watch out for the g men and revenuers, the book is so old it does not mention the fact you cant use tap water, you got to use one hundred percent spring or perfectly distilled water, never tell how i know that but take it from a ky girl who really REALLY likes her shine, make it in secluded area it does raise a stink when cooking and has a very detectable odor,
