This is, unfortuenetly, a common view of atheists from the eyes of ignorant religious zealots. However, atheist has nothing to do with patriotism, or any other "life beliefs." An atheist can have the same morals and ethics as the god fearing man, onl the atheist has other reasons for these morals and ethics.

I am a Christian and quite frankly I would be upset to hear anyone disconnected from our society by a comment like this. Yes, this is a nation under God but that does not mean that we condemn those who do not believe as we do. On the contrary, Christians are called to love our enemies and to pray for them.

That would be unfair to Christians, for that would be handing the whole country to us. Why? A child can't be responsible enough to run a country. Unless their are adults around to help. Adults would have to step in at that point. Right now we are waiting in the wings enjoying our selves with the values we are producing.

I would say that is a very un-American thing to say and that Daddy Bush has a lot to learn about what this country is all about.

This was said, wasn't it? It was a blitheringly stupid statement in a country where one is free to have any or no religion. I guess the father wasn't any genius either.
