I thought entering coatings were soluble but acid resistant so that after passing down the jejunum of the small intestine it would release the drugs. The purpose of the large intestine is to absorb moisture and lipids. Sam-e is a scam from what I've seen so it really doesn't do any thing but remove the waste from your wallet. They used to encase tape worm eggs in pills for weight reduction. They did work; unlike some of the "remedies" now .
