It might be: Mites are miserable things, after all.
But you're going to have to train her not to chew. I've heard bitter apple spray is good for teaching cats to leave things alone: Maybe it will work on your dog too while you're away.
Otherwise you may have to find a way to confine her in a puppy-proofed area when you have to leave her alone.
Good luck!

I had a problem just like this we my dog was just a puppy. try giving her a chew toy that has the same texture of your couch and maybe your puppy will stop chewing on your couch also before getting a new couch train her not to chew on your couch you can also take her to the vet she Can also be going through some mood swings but I wouldn't worry about it so much. It can also be the breed of your puppy.

He's still a pup really until he's about 2 years old. There is nothing wrong with putting him outside as long as he has a dog house, food and plenty of water. Crating would be good if you want to keep him as a house dog. No blankets or any thing he can tear up. Rawhide bones are good. If out side put straw in his house its soft and absorbent. If he gets wet from the rain the straw will help him dry.

Not sure if the mites are bringing on a reaction like this, but it is possible.
When it comes to puppies and chewing, you can expect the urge to chew to continue until a dog is about 3 yrs old. Years ago, I could not figure out why my American Eskimo was such a destructive chewer, until I talked to my vet about it. It was then that my vet told me that even tho my dog had all of her adult teeth, these teeth are still shifting within the jaw line into proper place. This can occur until the age of 3 yrs and so the excessive chewing urges will be present until them. Once my dog was about 3 yrs old, the chewing stopped completely. Until this phase passed, I crated my dog when I wasn't home and at nite time to prevent her access to things in my home that she could potentially destroy.

Be careful not to "spoil" your dog, she might be chewing because she craves your attention "ALL THE TIME" Which is not good for her and yourself.
Try giving her a chew toy, you can buy one at any pet store, and when your going shopping for the chew toy, Take her with you! Most all pet stores allow dogs. Let her pick the chew toy she likes off the shelve.

Well it could very well be frustration from itching, or it could just be a touch of separation anxiety. I suggest getting some toys that dispense treats or that you can stuff.. like Kongs and Food cubes because toys with food tend to keep them occupied longer, you may also try hiding treats around the house to give her something to do so she doesnt even think of chewing the couch.

First, get the mites treated. They can lead to mange. Second, spray Bitter Apple on the couch. It tastes awful.

I have heard that allum works ,make a paste with water and allum, and spread it on there. It makes the dogs tongue get extremely dry and they won't want to touch the item again.
Otherwise, my only other advice would be to crate your dogs during the day, it doesn't hurt them and then your stuff will be safe and you won't be mad at your dogs.
good luck!

Sell your couch........or visit your vet. They have sprays that will stop the chewing and not damage the material.
