RE:
What kind of gravy do you use for swedish meatballs?
Do you just use brown gravy...or is there some kind of special swedish meatball gravy out there?

The most frequently used gravy is the brown kind (often with cream in it) and that's how the meatballs are served in Sweden wherever you go, including the best restaurants.
To make a complete Swedish traditional dish, you should serve the meatballs with boiled potatoes, lingonberry jam and, of course, the gravy. I usually buy lingonberry jam at IKEA.

I second Alton Brown's recipe. He really is a genious!
It is different from regular gravy.. it wouldn't be swedish meatballs with any regular gravy like mushroom or brown.
Try his recipe you won't be disapointed. Also if you go to the foodnetwork and find the recipe there are reviews. Sometimes they have tips that can help.
Okay now I'm craving this...

SWEEDISH MEAT BALLS
Yield: 6 Servings
Basic meat balls
2 Beef bouillon cubes
1 c Boiling water
1/3 c Flour
1/2 ts Allspice
1 c Evaporated milk
1/2 c Water
1 tb Lemon juice
Prepare 36 or more small meat balls. While they are browning, dissolve
bouillon cubes in 1 cup boiling water. After meat balls are browned,
add bouillon. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat; cover the skillet and
simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from the heat. Stir in the flour a
little at a time. Add allspice and slowly stir in the evaporated milk
and 1/2 cup water. Cook uncovered over low heat; stir occasionally.
When the sauce is thickened (about 10 minutes), stir in lemon juice
and serve immediately with buttered noodles.

This is how my husband makes them. Trust me, they're excellent!
1 8 oz. brick of cream cheese
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1.5 soup cans of milk
1 little can of diced green chiles
1 spoonful of minced garlic
Melt that all together until smooth, then toss in the meatballs and heat up. If it's too thick, add a little more milk.

I think I must be a bit strange, but whenever I cook Swedish Meatballs, we have them with pasta & a simple tomato & basil sauce.
All the best.x

Hmm and wow there are so many ways. Here's one that's easy and simple. Get out a skillet and add a little oil or butter. Get a cup of milk and stir in about 1 tablespoon of corn starch and mix. Pour that in the skillet and add any cheese you like. Add a little seasoning of choice. Keep blending until it becomes a nice sauce. And there you go. I have so many other ideas but you didn't give me a specific range
