I'm interested in attending the police academy, but worried as to how much running is involved. Can someone give me a rought idea so that I can begin training? 2 miles a day? 5 miles a day? 10 miles a day?

you will run almost on a daily basis-we used to run the mile, then the 5mile . when tested for the run we had acertain amount of time to do a mile run in .If you are not a runner, I would get going and run every day for the next 6 months before you attempt. According to your age will also depend on the "timed" run. For instance say someone is 18 maybe you would be expected to do a mile in 6 minutes. If you are say 30, might be expected to do a mile in 15 minutes(these are just guesses). When I was in the Academy in 1971 I did a mile in 6 minutes. Things have changed drastically since then. last I heard on the mile run for an 18-22yr old was a 6.5 min. mile.

Ohio standard to pass the final test in 1.5 miles. The time required depends on your sex and age. I had to do it in under 13 minutes.
