Lonel Watters was an artist who also worked in publishing, specifically yearbook publishing. He was born in Pennsylvania in 1914 and lived in Georgia and St. Petersburg, FL, in later years. He died in 1995. His wife, Sophia Ruth McFadden Watters, was a teacher and school administrator. He was also my grandfather, and I remember him saying this, and my mother (also a teacher) using it.
