You're doing the right thing.
Take a favourite toy or something that has your scent on it and put it his box/cage.
It's only for a short time, he'll be groggy most of the time.
Don't worry, he won't think he's been abandoned.

Okay, all of the things above like clothes or a blankie are a good idea. Talk to JJ before you take him and tell him that he's a good cat and a lovely cat and a handsome cat and that you love him very much and that he has to see his doctor to make sure he will be all right.
Reassuring him this way will make it easier to take him to the Vet later on if he needs his teeth cleaned or if he needs other help.
I've always tried to do this with my cat Sumo and although she is never happy going there, she quietens down and is good as gold with her favourite Vet.
If you ever think the Vet is being too rough, ask to see a different Vet the next time and see how that Vet handles JJ. There are no _bad_ Vets but like human doctors, there are some that will not have a good 'bed-side manner'. You know that you wouldn't want to be poked awkwardly by a doctor.
But the main thing is when you bring him home again, shower him with as much affection as he'll take. He'll probably be very groggy for about 24 hours and will probably just want to crash out in his own space until the fuzziness is over. He'll be tender so be careful when you lift him. Give him his favourite treat and tell him what a brave cat and what a heroic cat he is.
He'll associate good praise and treats with the Vet and the next visit will be easier.
As a treat on the way home from the vet, my kitty gets out of her carrying case and wanders about the car looking out. I only drive at about 15mph and it's a 7 minute journey to my house. She likes sitting on the parcel shelf in the rear window best.

I know it is scary to take him to the vet but getting him neutered is the best thing for his long-term health and well-being. So you are being a good mom to take him. The surgery is simple and he will be OK.
Keep in mind that he will be very sleepy after surgery, so he will mostly sleep the night he is away from you and won't be thinking that you left him. If he has a favorite toy, ask the vet if you can bring it to comfort him. He may still be a little groggy when you pick him up the next day but he'll be happy to see you. He will recover very fast from this surgery - it is pretty simple.
If you can. talk to the vet when you drop him off. He can reassure you and answer any questions you have.
Don't worry, he'll be OK.

JJ will be fine. Make sure you send his favourite toys in his box and a blanket that he sleeps on (it needs to have a familiar smell on it). He will still be a bit groggy when you collect him so I dont think he will notice that you havent been there. Just make a fuss of him when he comes home and give him his favourite food. He will forget about the op very quickly and be back to the old JJ in no time. Both of my cats have been fixed and they are fine and recovered very quickly. Trust your vet I am sure he has had lots of practice. Dont worry. Good luck for Friday (and meow to JJ xx).

You are an extremely responsible pet owner who is doing the best thing for JJ. There is no way around it--this is a traumatic occasion for you and for JJ, but be assured, he won't hold a grudge.
As soon as you pick JJ, up talk him and keep talking to him and petting him when you get him home. He needs reassurance and lots of attention after his ordeal.
You love him a lot or you wouldn't be taking such good care of him.

Pick out an old pillowcase or t-shirt and sleep on the pillowcase until Friday, or sleep in the old t-shirt. Don't wash it, because you want it to smell like you so it will help reassure your kitty. If you want to be sure you get the t-shirt or pillowcase back, write your name in it with a laundry marker. When you go to drop JJ off at the clinic, take the pillowcase or t-shirt with you and ask the vet clinic staff to keep it with him to help keep him calm.
The people who work with animals at the vet clinic love animals and will understand your concerns. When he wakes up after the surgery, there will be kennel staff working in the area keeping an eye on the pets who've had surgery, so they'll make sure he's OK. He should be fine - try not to worry too much. You're doing the right thing for him by getting him neutered.

You're as bad as I am!! I thought I was the only one who thought of those kind of things1 But don't worry; vets know what they're doing and I'm sure your kitty will get all the care he needs. And remember; it's only for one night. Just give the vet or vet tech his favorite toy and tell them to put it in the cage with him. Or a small blanket or shirt you have worn so it has your scent on it. This will make him feel better while he's gone. He'll be okay!! Don't worry!!

Explain to JJ that it is only for one night. Try not to to be so worried, JJ will sense this and it will make him anxious. If you can, bring something to leave with him that is familiar. Maybe a favorite toy, or something with your scent on it like a pillow case.

i think jj has that symptom like my lab they go into a stage and freak out in different ways what i would be honest about trying a new vet let them know that you are worried the way they ensure you should tell's you how much they care about the animals for jj ask them to keep a blanket or sweater [that has your sent on it] in his cage with him to let him know you will be back. but ask the vet what that symptom is they can help you with that.

If the vet is cool, he or she will let your cat have a piece of clothing, like a sock, that smells like you to comfort JJ while he is there overnight. That way, he'll feel connected to you, and that's the best way you can let him know that you are coming back to get him as soon a s you can.
