Do you mean that actual color, or highlights? Either way, I would say no. I color a lot of hair, and typically someone with very dark hair looks very washed out as a blonde.

It's really not a matter of will it look good, it's a matter of can you afford to have your roots touched up every 2-3 weeks. You do realize that the two colors are drastic enough that you would have some pretty dark roots pretty quickly with a light shade of hair. How about going just a shade or two lower to start so you can see what you might be getting yourself into. You might find you like that better. I always wondered why people would want to go blonde. Dark haired women are more mysterious, have depth, and usually fairly intellegent. Blondes don't tend to have that rep.

Use your skin color as a guide. You don't want to be washed out, if you are terribly pale leaving black might be good but if ... ok just use this rule of thumb - don't do hair lighter than your skin tone, that is a big no no. A shade close to your skin tone in intensity will most compliment it. For instance, honey blonde would be perfect if you are fair skinned. If you need guidance, meet with a hairdresser and ask their opinion.

I know someone with black hair who wanted to go blonde. It worked but their hair never looked quite as blonde as a natural blonde would and it totally damaged their hair drying it out. They look better with their natural hair color and went back to it. Try highlights instead of changing your entire haircolor.

It's impossible to tell without seeing a picture of you and being able to see your skin tone, eye color, hair style, etc. Some people with black hair look great with lighter shades; some people with black hair look horrendous with lighter hair.

Just remember, to go much lighter you would need to strip your hair color by bleaching it, which is very harsh and it takes a long time for your hair to recover. I would recommend that you consult with a professional stylist to see what other options they can recommend for similar results without the damage.

with dark hair you might want to slowly making ligther changes. i think the suggested amount to go lighter is 3 shades. it might look right but it might also look REALLY weird to you for a while.

Yeah my suggestion is to strip your hair first or you will be wasting your time beacause you can't lift color with color!

I think you should try darker highlights first to see how you like them and then get them lighter.
