If walking down an aisle is/ was so important to you, why did you settle for the courthouse? There are many that opt for this or a small intimate gathering of family & friends.

Understand that if you do this it will be a vow renewal, not a wedding. It is also unfair to expect the pre-wedding parties,as well. There may be a few guests that buy gifts but they will be more along the line of a housewarming gift.

people do that all the time! i think it's a wonderful idea! My friends grandparents never had a wedding so last year on their anniversary they had a cute little family ceremony with the white dress and cake and whole nine. I think it's one of the many things that can keep the love going and interesting.

No. You had the wedding you had already, whatever the circumstances were at the time. Hopefully your marriage is going well. Wait until your 10th to have a vow renewal, then you can have a simple ceremony, and family and friends over to your home for dinner.
Don't regret that you didn't have the traditional wedding - what you had worked out at the time. You have each other - you should be more than grateful for that.

I got married at the local court house. First because I wasn't going to plan a huge wedding and second, my husband and I wanted to have more for our home than a huge wedding. It's really one day.You have a life time to spend together, that should be the most important thing you should be focused on.

I think you better get planning your wedding.....many people do just that, get married in a quiet ceremony then have another ceremony for family and friends. Make it like a real wedding including the reception! Have fun with it and Congratulations on finding a husband that would want you to have that!!!

My fiance and I discussed getting married this year and waiting until next year to have a nicer wedding ceremony...I wanted to have a wedding now regardless of how elaborate it could be. I think your husband is trying to make a sweet gesture. I don't see anything wrong with the idea.

It's not weird. My fiance and I just applied for our marraige license today and plan on getting married civilly before our religious ceremony. Do it big! It's not every day you get to have a WEDDING!

I think its a great idea. I know couples who have done it. They really wanted a nice wedding so they saved until they could afford it. I think its special.

It is actually very common. According to may churches you are only married civially and not through the church. So you can have a church wedding.
