Your dog should be fine. I have both of my dogs sleep with me every night under the covers. They actually dig their way under the covers so I know they like it. If they get to hot or can't breath they get up and put their heads outside the covers or go to the side of the bed. They know instinctively when they can't breath or when they want more air. As long as your dog isn't trapped under the covers he/she will be fine. I sleep with it so cold in my room that if my dogs aren't under the covers they get too cold. Let your dog pick where he/she wants to be and they will know what to do from there.

I have two Jack Russells and they too sleep under the covers all night. Some dogs (especially Jacks) love to be under the cover. Mine will move on top of the bed in the middle of the night when they get too hot. Then they will go back under after like 20 minutes. They will move if they get too hot.

I worry about the same thing. My dogs come out from under the covers sometimes as if they are coming up from the bottom of the ocean. I have even created airways into them from the sides of the bed by manipulating the covers. I know that is silly.
You'll never stop worrying about your dogs, but trust in their instincts and you might get a little better rest.

I have 2 beagle dogs. One sleeps in the bed and the other sleeps on top. It is totally crazy how they both have different preferences. Trust me, your dog would let you know if he couldn't breathe. The dog that sleeps under my covers, when he gets too hot he actually crawls out from the covers and hops back on top.

Our chihuahua-mix does this -- no problem.
We also have 2 cats that like to sleep under the covers (away from the dog) -- no problem.
When they get too hot, (or can't breathe?) they just wiggle out the side of the bed.

He will be alright, Dogs are denning animals and they want to feel warm and secure. Mine do the same, I have one that sleeps under the blankets and one that sleeps on top of the blankets.

My dog does the same quit worrying, dogs have sense enough to know if they can't breath. If they can't breath, they will move out from under the covers. Dogs tuck their noses into themsevles to heat the air they breath, it helps them stay warm.

Oxygen is able to sift thru the layers of blankets. He is fine under the covers. We have chihuahuas and they love to be under the covers. I never lost one like that yet.

My old dog used to do this. Even to the point where she would pant. She loved it though and it never did her any harm. Am sure your dog will be fine just check he has easy access out of the covers if he gets too hot. Am sure he'll let you know if he wants to get out.
