and chain letters. Many times the are religious forwards (I am Christian, but not as "faithful" as her, I don't enjoy these things.) There are always lists, safety tips, dancing teddy bears to brighten my day, jokes, etc. It is driving me crazy!

By the way, this person happens to be my MOTHER IN LAW!

Here's what I did with my best friend who did the same:
Dear (Best Friend),
I really value our friendship (relationship), and I want to be open to communication with you. Unfortunately, I get so much email every day that it leaves me with insufficient time to read it all. I've been forced to channel all forwards and chain letters directly to the deleted items folder.
I want to make sure that I don't miss a personal email from you, so would you please stop sending forwards? I would like to avoid deleting something personal you write to me!
Love,
Me.

This stopped her from sending forwards for a while. She started up again, and I wrote her this:
Dear (Best Friend),
l just found a bunch of email from you in my junk mail folder. I had to go through all of it to make sure I wasn't missing anything personal you might have written to me. This took time I had set aside to get some work done and made a dent in my day. Please, I really don't want to have to sort through a lot of forwards and chain letters, and I definitely don't want to miss any personal thoughts you care to write to me. I'll ask you again to stop sending me forwards.
Love,
Me.

I also went into my Outlook and added another folder under the inbox named 'forwards'. Then I went into tools/rules and created a new rule:
If subject contains "FW", then move the email to the 'forwards' folder.
Hope this helps.
Don't be afraid to be candid. As long as you keep your tone friendly, you can and should set the boundaries you need.

I've got a couple of email correspondents like this.........When I see that the subject of the email contains the "Fw:" I just delete it.

To be kind, ONCE IN A WHILE I will forward something cute or meaningful from someone else to them, just to let them think that I read everything.

Gotta love mothers-in-law.........what else can you do with them?? ;)

That's really touchy since it's your mother-in-law. I think you should try to bring it up in a light-hearted way. Like try saying, "I must have 20 forwards from you, and no actual emails from you. What's up with that?" Then laugh to lighten the blow. Best wishes!

I agree with the person who said you should tell her to stop doing that. If it doesn't work, I'll request her a second time. If I have to speak about a third time, I simply block her and if she requests/comments with you one of her emails, tell her your mailbox has been crowded and you haven't received any new messages (from no one) in a while.

She doesn't have to know you blocked her. Good luck! ;)

Just simply ask her to refrain from sending non-pertinent emails. Tell her that you have enough going on that you don't have time to sift through extra fluff. I'm sure she'll understand.

Put yourself in the TO line and add her to BCC. You can make it look like you sent it to your whole address book instead of her alone. If all of your contacts are involved, she can't take it personally.

to stop getting emails from Edline: Login, and on the proper of the reveal there should be a silver bar that shows a house button, MY EDLINE, equipment, a view button, a globe, help, URNAME, signal OUT. bypass your mouse over to MY EDLINE, and then below My Account hit cope with. you could go with out of school messages (yet do not understand if which will paintings) and new signals.

Don't risk straining the relationship with your mother-in-law over this. It may very well be her way of reaching out to you to try to have a better relationship. But nobody requires you to read them. Just delete them.

Depending on what email service you use, you can direct forwards straight to your trash can. Or, I would advice deleting it; there is no need to create an awkward moment.
