How many pieces is too many ?

The more pieces, the worse.
Reason: ferrules. No matter what type of ferule, they dull the action of the rod. Some of your better makes (St. Croix, Sage,
Scott, Loomis) incorporate different technology in their tapers and ferruling, and this seems to make the effects less.

You need to determine where you'll be fishing and for what species of fish as well as how much room you'll have to
pack a rod. For the most part a 3 piece 8' 5wt or a 4 piece
9' 5wt will fill the bill for most trout fishing applications.

For the record, my travel rod is a 8'6" 4 piece St. Croix
Legend Ultra. Fits nicely behind the seat, and shouldn't be a problem as a carry on for air travel.

That is the situation with the ones businesses you wish gentle blanks and they're very brittle with the ones prime prime modulus graphite's that's why i don't like Sage i had 2 of them and one broke for no intent in any respect two times on me and that i despatched it again bought it again and offered it and the man who purchased it stated it snapped convenient too. And Orvis i do know a few men who say the equal like approximately the Sage i simply stated. Have you ever attempted Thomas and Thomas or Scott i've a T & T and my brother has a Scott we torture equipment on giant Salmon right here in Alaska so the ones ones are the nice i've used. And i actually have a Rajeff physical games Echo they're known as i've the saltwater Echo two 8 weight one and at the 14th of this month i landed 5 King salmon all 30 to forty kilos without a screw ups makes me mad when you consider that my heavier equipment i had screw ups!And Echo rather does not price up to the ones Sage or Orvis rods both.

I have a 3 piece. it's real easy to travel with, but not that good for the actual fishing. i dont know about more expensive ones, but my cheap-o 3 piece tends to come apart after about a dozen casts unless i keep re-tightening the pieces.

that tends to make things a bit more exciting when there's actually a fish on one end, you on the other, and part of your rod in the middle :)

They are great when you keep one behind the seat of the truck and you pass a beautiful stream and wonder if theres anything worth catching in it. But for regular fishing they suck.
